I don’t really understand the whole ‘thoughts and prayers’ response people give.
I don’t get why lots of people feel the need to ‘send their thoughts and prayers’ when something terrible happens. I am a Christian, but I’m also a realist. The only thing that will improve a bad situation is action and implementing solutions. Prayers aren’t going to save someone with cancer, medical intervention will. Prayers aren’t going to stop school shootings, safety measures and gun policies will. We have been called upon by our lord to do the good work. WORK. Not the good thinking, the good WORK.
Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
Titus 3:8 “This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works.”
Hebrews 10:24 “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works.”
1 Peter 2:12 “Having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.”
James 2:17 “Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”
James 2:26 “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”
