An argument my friend made

I was talking to my friend yesterday who is I think agnostic I’m not sure, he said that the Bible has many contradictions, I said that’s true because 1 the apostles write their accounts, and between old testament and new testament God made a new covenant that did away with some laws that were forbidden before. I asked him to name 1 contradiction as an example and he said that the Bible says that God is all powerful and all good. But there’s still bad things that happen in the world like natural disasters, famine, disease, innocent people dying, babies dying in the womb… etc. I have my own explanation but I want to hear more explanations to help me solidify my understanding and help him understand why God lets bad things happen to innocent people.
