How to understand or get guidance on big decisions?

I always struggled to understand what god wants me to do in big decisions.

For example two job offers or now two houses to buy. I pray about it/wait for signs etc. anyone can help?

I want to be lead by god but have to take decisions. Maybe I have never been taught how to decide but this is now really hard and I had also regrets in my past (eventhogh time has healed wounds).
