Is Jesus the messiah?

If Jesus is the messiah and God at the same time why didn’t the Old Testament describe the Messiah as being God. It seems like a pretty important thing to include, sure maybe it was so that the crucifiction would take place but it still doesn’t make sense that if Jesus is the Messiah that in the Old Testament it didn’t mention that the Messiah was God himself, it only describes him as a teacher
