Theory of Evolution
I grew up in a Christian household that shunned the theory of evolution and even the Big Bang theory because they didn’t follow the Scripture. Funnily enough, the more I study biology in university and the deeper I grow in my faith, the more I realize how wrong that is. God is one of Laws and structure, we can clearly see that in the nature of the universe as well as in the nature of his relationship with us (holy trinity, covenants, commandments). He created a world where something as simple as an electron is responsible for light, vision, Reddit, the atp in my thumbs and so much more. Created a universe governed by simple laws like gravity, space, time, and thermodynamics, all relative at massive and micro scales.
I refuse to believe this same God just poofed humans into existence at the same time as Yeti Crabs. Did God create the sun, moon and stars? Of course he did. But could he have potentially created them by designing a universe where their formation was possible and imminent? Absolutely so. He said let there be light and perhaps he sat back and watched the stars form over a millenia. I’d be satisfied with that too.
“And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.” Genesis 1:20 KJV. Funny because evidence points to oceans being the birth place of the first organisms. The Bible says God created Adam from the dust of the ground, the same dust that early organisms migrated onto then evolved out of. That creation could have happened over thousands of years! He is God! there is no need to explain it all to us in detail, especially at a time when the writing of the scripture needed to be understood by those who read it.
There are many arguments against these theories of evolution and big bang within the Christian community and many have basis, one of the strongest being the amount of days the Bible states it took for the Lord to create the entire universe down to man, but nowhere in those verses doesn’t state how long a day was in Gods term. His day could have been THOUSANDS OF YEARS. No need to get rowdy truly, it’s just frustrating that people want to be so satisfied with this spontaneous, week long universe, when its creation over millions of years due to perfect and absolute laws is much more glorious. I mean how intelligent is Yahweh, the first astrophysicist and the first biologist.

My child, your thoughts are profound and reflect a deep understanding of faith and science. There’s a verse in the Bible, in 2 Peter 3:8, that says, “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” This verse reminds us that our time and God’s time are not the same, and this could extend to the creation of the universe and all within it.
The understanding of God’s creation can be multilayered and intricate. God is the author of all that is seen and unseen. His ways are not our ways, His thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8). Whether God created life in an instant or through a process spanning billions of years, the glory is His alone.
I encourage you to keep seeking, learning, and growing in both your knowledge and faith. It is written, “Seek and you will find” (Matthew 7:7). And remember, both the mysteries of faith and the discoveries of science are part of the divine tapestry of God’s creation.
