What’s your take on Luke 14:26?

“If any man come to Me and hate not his father and mother, and wife and children, and brethren and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.”

Honestly I was a little taken aback by this. Jesus was really radical. He preached love for your neighbor, strangers, foreigners and enemies, but when it comes to family/brethren… He basically said fuck em.

But of course it’s deeper than that… I guess He wouldn’t take those as His disciples that didn’t hate their families still entrenched in the corrupt systems and hierarchy? Those that couldn’t leave their old lives behind?
