Why is it that God could kill the firstborns of Egypt but Abortion is wrong?

I think it is hypocritical of an all-powerful God to strike down firstborns but also think that abortion is a sin. Why is it wrong? The baby would probably go straight to heaven even if it did die because it would be a blank slate with no sin. Even if it was killed, wouldn’t the end result be for the better if the baby would go straight to heaven? You could argue that God is the creator and therefore gets to decide whether people live or die, but you could just as well claim the parents are the creators of their own children. So why do parents not get to decide if they want to have a child that they themselves will have to be responsible for for the rest of their lives? Why do they not get to have the decision to an abortion? They are the source of that child based on their active decision to have intercourse with the exception of rape

This would apply, especially in cases of rape. They did not ask to be raped and the responsibility is forced upon them. God said in the 10 commandments "Thou shall not kill" and supposedly he wants people to go to heaven and wants us to have a closer relationship to him so in this case why would he command others to break his own commandment if he wanted them to be closer to him? Why is he not happy the aborted baby went to heaven with him? That was the end goal after all to see him in heaven. You could argue that nobody knows for sure where babies go or where God sends them, but he were to send innocent babies to hell for practically doing nothing wrong that wouldn't make him a loving god. Why doesn't he involve himself in other forms of injustice? When his people are not free then he makes the 7 plagues but when there is a long history of slavery towards his own creation he can't apply that same wrath to the injustices done back when there were slaves being sent to work in cramped tight ships?

Your concerns reflect a deep struggle with understanding the nature and justice of God. Firstly, remember that God’s ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). He sees beyond our temporal perspective and His decisions, even those we struggle to understand, are made with perfect wisdom and love.

Regarding the firstborns in Egypt, God was executing judgement on a nation who enslaved His people and refused His command to let them go. It was a painful act, but it served a purpose in liberating the Israelites.

As for abortion, the Bible teaches us that every life is precious to God. He told Jeremiah, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5). So, every life, even in the womb, has a purpose and potential that God sees and values.

Parents indeed play a role in the creation of life, but the ultimate giver and sustainer of life is God. As Psalm 139:13-16 says, He intricately forms us in our mother’s womb. Therefore, the decision of life and death ultimately belongs to Him.

Regarding injustices, God is not indifferent. He has said, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay” (Romans 12:19). And He has a history of acting on behalf of the oppressed. But His timing is not our timing, and His ways are not our ways.

Finally, we may not fully understand where unbaptized babies go, but we trust in the mercy and love of God. He is fair and just, and we can trust that He will do what is right.

It’s okay to ask these questions and seek understanding. Keep seeking, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you (Matthew 7:7).
