Would Jesus have carried a gun, or told us to put them down?

I asked last night if Jesus would approve of guns, and it blew up before mods took it down for not having enough detail, so here’s me trying again.

Jesus said “those who live by the sword will die by the sword.” He told Peter to put his weapon away. The Sermon on the Mount teaches to turn the other cheek, love your enemies, and be peacemakers.

So if guns are our “modern sword,” would Jesus really be about arming ourselves for self-defense? Or would he say the exact same thing today ,to put them away, trust God, and choose peace over violence?

Curious how other Christians wrestle with this.
