Desmond Doss is the reason It strengthened my beliefs in Christianity

I know that I probably shouldn’t be basing my beliefs on a movie based on a true story. Initially, my family is Christian, but I didn’t really confirm my beliefs in god before I watched Hacksaw Ridge. I really didn’t believe in a higher being out there or that God really existed, and I just went along with the church and said “I believed in God,” Just because I was told to.

But when I watched the famous movie Hacksaw Ridge I was baffled when I found out it was based on a true story, a conscientious objector who refused to carry any sort of weapon, even a pistol, and went into the depths of hell to pull 50-100 American and injured Japanese soldiers to safety. All on his own. Even at one point where a Japanese soldier aimed at him in crucial moments, but the rifle refused to fire, I’m sure I know the depths it went to, but the fact that he tried firing multiple times even after clearing the jam is so crazy to me, on top of the fact that he solo saved and had the courage and strength to get back up to save more of his fellow soldiers BY HIMSELF somehow evading Japanese patrols and advancements. Its to the point where Hollywood had to dial down the events in the movie because it would seem “To unrealistic” 2 Bronze stars for saving multiple men underfire in combat in 2 other deployments and he survived both those landings and survived noctorious death hole Hacksaw ridge 2 of the landings which weren’t even mentioned in the film because the directors thought that it would be to “unrealistic”. A true Christian who stayed by the beliefs of god and himself and was rewarded with despite the consequences that could’ve arised from it, also including other conscientious objectors like Thomas William Bennett, another Christian who earned the medal of honor and “Joseph G. LaPointe Jr.” Another Christian who earned the medal of honor as a medic as a conscientious objector.
