I’m atheist but I’ve been having a feeling about god

I’ve been atheist since birth because both of my parents are atheists, but for a few years, I get these strange feelings about God that he’s real and watching me, it’s hard to explain the feeling, I used to try and be Christian but I would only last a few days because I felt awful like I was offending god, so for a few years now god has just been in the back of my mind, can someone help explain?
