Is the Bible meant to be taken literally?

This is something I’m confused by and why I’m agnostic. For example the story of Adam and Eve. Does anyone here believe God actually created the first humans from dust. We know that the first humans evolved from other animals. Also things like the flood have no scientific backing i think. The more I think about all this the more it just seems all made up. Can someone help me understand?
