James 3 vs James 4
James 3 discusses the danger and destructive power of the tongue and how teachers should be few and how we are all hypocritical and stumble with our words. This chapter ends with:
“wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18 Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.”
James 4 goes into how our internal desires lead to conflict, and mentions how a friend of the world is being an enemy to god.
Individually I understand both chapters but I am struggling to see how they do not work against each other to some degree..
Would being a Peacemaker (James 3) not be a friend of the world (James 4)?
