Trans woman and ex-Muslim interested in Christianity. What do I do?

Greetings.

I’ll be clear in this post, as I don’t wish to waste anybody’s time.I
was raised in a mostly non-religious family; therefore, religion did not play any role in my early life. I only became interested in spirituality during my teenage years through Twelver Shi’a Islam. I decided to take it seriously and remained a Muslim for roughly half a decade. I almost attended a religious seminary in Iran, learned some Arabic and Persian, read many books, and tried to be a good Muslim. However, that period was marked by religious OCD, isolation from everyone around me (I reside in Brazil), and overall, was not spiritually fulfilling.

Looking back, I see that many of my issues with the religion were unaddressed personality issues. Yet, there was always something “iffy” about Islam. The specific Shi’ite tradition I followed is very exclusivist; most non-Shi’a Muslims – and even many Shi’a – are considered hated by Allah, and every non-Muslim is essentially doomed. Allah’s love did not feel unconditional at all.

I eventually left the faith years ago and remained apathetic, even hostile, towards religion. That changed a few months ago when I decided to try praying to Jesus Christ. In my humble opinion, I don’t believe one should base their belief in God solely on feelings, but I felt as if Jesus Christ was genuinely loyal to those who pray to Him. I had never felt such an awareness of God when I was a Muslim.

I am now interested in Christianity, but I am unsure if I can remain as a transgender woman married to a man. In Islamic tradition, there are two main legal verdicts that permit gender transition based on a medical framework: one Sunni, by Al-Tantawi, and one Shi’ite by Ayatollah Khomeini. So, a religiously legal basis for transition exists in Islam. But what about Christianity?

I think LGBTQ+ affirming denominations would be a nice fit,but I haven’t done much research on them. I do not wish to deal with the blatant homophobia, transphobia, and death threats that are common with the overwhelming majority of Muslims… What should I do to become a Christian? Do I need to be baptized? Can any Christian perform a baptism? I am genuinely clueless. Any help is appreciated.

Cheers.
