Do many Christians believe in literal demons?

I’m not Christian, but lately i’ve been feeling drawn to the religion, and I spoke to my friend about it, and they said I wouldn’t/ couldn’t be Christian because I don’t believe in demons. I can understand them existing perhaps beyond a physical form, but I don’t think I can understand them being physical and being able to be “exorcised”.
