I hit someone with my car
I was driving to my parents house when a man wearing dark clothes stepped out into the road. I slammed on the brakes but by the time I saw him it was too late and I hit him. He was very intoxicated and couldn’t tell the police where he was going. He is okay 🙏 and in stable condition.
When speaking with the cops, he admitted he was drinking and told them he really wanted to stop. When I got home, I looked him up and found an obituary from an immediate family member of his from a couple of months ago. I feel absolutely terrible for this man and believe he is in crisis.
For a little extra context, 6 months ago I was in the absolute lowest moment of my life and turned to Christianity. Jesus has saved my life in a lot of ways and I feel a calling that I need to help this man. I’d like to visit him in the hospital with a card and include some bible verses, nothing crazy but just a way to let him know God hasn’t forgotten about him. It may sound crazy but in the obituary, his family member belonged to a Catholic Church. There are so many circumstances that would have stopped me from being in that exact place in that exact moment but I think I was sent there to help him (even though I hit him with my car).
I guess just looking for advice, relatable stories, guidance for what to do in this situation and if visiting him in the hospital would be a good or bad idea.
