Protestant vs Catholicism

Hey guys I’m a Protestant looking into/leaning towards Catholicism, I just want to understand outside takes on this, I need help badly. I’ve been asking God to guide me to the truth and I need to know the facts. I feel as if God might be calling me to Catholicism yet, I don’t like that fact that mostly everyone that believes in the Protestant belief is going to hell. So my question is: if Protestants aren’t part of the true church, why aren’t they? Please help. God bless you all
